DESCRIPTION:Adults and Teens of all abilities and disabilities gather every (most) Thursdays for dance\, art\, games\, and more. We are an inclusive community of friends who enjoy a diversity of art forms\, activities\, and fun socializing together. \nDANCE: and move your body’s way that is natural for you with both form and freedom. We explore a variety of guided dance form and choreography as well as freedance co-created by participants. Dance styles vary from pop\, hip hop\, jazz\, lyrical\, modern to whatever style inspires the group. Express yourself through dance and music!\nART: We do ‘easy’ basic art right now\, with plans to create more robust art as we gather art supplies and find a volunteer art leader.\nOTHER ACTIVITIES: We enjoy board games\, horticulture/gardening\, music\, bowling\, field trips\, theatre arts\, and Special Olympics spring games. \nCAREGIVERS are asked to stay. DESCRIPTION:Zumba Fitness is a dance inspired\, instructor led fitness class that feels like a party on the dance floor. Move and groove to international and latin rhythms from around the world while learning new dance steps in the process. Start off with feet\, add arms\, then start follow the pattern shown through non-verbal direction at the front of the class. Tanja has been teaching Zumba fitness classes since 2012 in and around Chatham County. She also teaches Zumba Gold classes for those who need a little less intensity\, have balance issues or injuries\, and still want to party\, but in a safe environment. DESCRIPTION:Nonprofit organization Bynum Front Porch proudly presents the 7th show in their new monthly performance series\, “Mill Town Yarns.” \nDonna Washington is an award-winning internationally known master storyteller\, artist-educator\, and author who has been providing workshops and performing for audiences of all ages for over thirty-six years. She is renowned for her storytelling for both children & adults from poignant & funny fables about the human condition to racy relationships stories to spine-tingling tales of terror. \nShe has been featured at numerous festivals\, schools\, libraries\, theaters and other venues around the world including Canada\, Peru\, Ireland Argentina & Hong Kong. During the pandemic\, she presented over two hundred shows & workshops virtually online. In 2020\, she co-founded the non-profit organization Artists Standing Strong Together with Master Storyteller Sheila Arnold for which they won a 2021 Oracle Award. In 2022 she received the Coleen Salley Storytelling Award. Donna’s eleven storytelling CDs have garnered thirty national awards. She has authored numerous articles about storytelling and education including her very popular blog Language\, Literacy & Storytelling. She is also the author of six children’s books. \nShe lives in Durham and travels all over the world performing and presenting workshops. \nMill Town Yarns shows are inside the cozy & quaint Bynum General Store. SUMMARY:Slow Flow Yoga @ The Plant
DESCRIPTION:This slow-flow vinyasa class is focused on building strength and encouraging flexibility. Class begins with a short grounding and centering exercise during which students are guided into their breathwork practice\, followed by gentle movements to warm up the body. We’ll then move through modified sun salutations and standing postures\, after which\, inversions will be offered to support the circulatory system. The class will end with seated and reclined postures to cool the body down and prepare for savasana. Modifications are offered throughout practice\, and all levels are welcome! \nThis class will meet outside on the lawn in front of the stage\, or in Building 2 in the event of rain. If you have any questions\, head into Fair Game Beverage Company and someone there will show you where to go.

From the rolling hills of the Piedmont to the tranquil coastlines\, Michael’s work invites viewers to explore the diverse and captivating natural scenery that has inspired his artistic journey. \nThe reception will feature a curated selection of Brown’s work from the past 20 years\, reflecting his mastery of light\, color\, and texture as he conveys the essence of North Carolina’s landscapes plus get the opportunity to meet him in person! Whether you are a long-time admirer or discovering his art for the first time\, this event promises to offer a fresh perspective on familiar scenes. \nAbout Michael Brown: Best known as a muralist\, Michael has completed murals and public art projects in cities across North Carolina and in Virginia\, West Virginia\, New York\, Florida\, Chicago and Baltimore. As part of the Chapel Hill/UNC bicentennial celebration\, he was commissioned to do a mural painting for the Franklin Street Post Office as a companion piece to an existing mural by the distinguished Depression-era artist Dean Cornwell. His large realistic historical paintings also circle the walls in the historic Orange County District Court in Hillsborough\, the rotunda of the Main Branch of the Greensboro Public Library\, the Veterans Museum in Tarboro\, and at other sites supported by local civic groups.
