DESCRIPTION:Come to Downtown Pittsboro to meet artists\, enjoy music\, dine and shop in a welcoming and inclusive environment for all lovers of the arts. \nThe next monthly Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk is May 16 from 5-8 PM in Downtown Pittsboro (Hillsboro St. (main street) & surrounding areas). Experience live music\, browse unique art vendors\, and explore the charm of downtown\, where stores stay open late. Participants include local businesses\, galleries\, independent artists\, performing artists\, and community partners as well as local residents and visitors from the surrounding areas. \nPittsboro (PBO) Finally Fridays Arts Walk occurs the third Friday evening of each month\, transforming downtown Pittsboro into an interactive vibrant arts destination. Local galleries\, studios\, businesses\, and public spaces showcase visual and performing artists of all levels\, from emerging talents to established professionals. The event is free to the public and participating artists. This event creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for all lovers of the arts. \nTracy Lynee and Dave Smith are May Finally Fridays Arts Walk’s featured musicians! They are an all-original duo sometimes performing with a stellar band. Tasteful\, sweet and entertaining. Their tunes have a life of their own! Tracy and Dave will be playing at the historic Pittsboro Courthouse in the circle. \nVisitors will experience Art exhibits\, musical performances\, live demonstrations and interactive activities. Downtown businesses participate with their own activities as well as provide dining\, shopping and entertainment. \nAnd finally\, visitors will be greeted by the Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk mascot. Lil Bigman is a sheep who is small in stature\, but full of personality. His favorite pastime is hanging out with people in the Pittsboro social district during this monthly 3rd Friday Arts Walk event.

DESCRIPTION:The next Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk takes place on December 19 from 5–8 PM in downtown Pittsboro (Hillsboro St. and nearby areas). Explore the shops\, check out the sales and browse the arts and crafts booths along the Social District sidewalks during this arts walk event. \nDowntown Pittsboro celebrates the ”Spirit of the Holly Days” during its December 19 Finally Fridays Arts Walk. Holly’s sharp leaves stand for strength\, and its red berries signify warmth. Streets are decorated with holly and festive garlands\, welcoming everyone to enjoy local art and seasonal togetherness. The holly days spirit in Downtown Pittsboro is more than just festive décor—it’s a celebration of generosity\, gratitude\, and togetherness that fills the area with light\, laughter\, and connection during its Finally Fridays Arts Walk. \nPittsboro is home to some historic holly trees. One famous holly tree grew near West Street and was believed to be about 155 years old when it was cut down in 2008. A slice of this tree\, showing its growth rings\, is now displayed at the Chatham Community Library. Another impressive holly tree stands in Mike Shepherd’s yard across from the Pittsboro Baptist Church. This tree is even larger than the other one and may be just as old\, with family history going back to the 1850s. Both trees are reminders of Pittsboro’s long connection to holly and its natural heritage. \nDuring Pittsboro Finally Fridays Arts Walk\, shops and galleries show holly-themed art and crafts. Families\, friends\, and neighbors gather in the Social District to enjoy the decorations and make memories together. Holly decorations fill the streets and windows\, while events make things lively and festive and help build community spirit.

DESCRIPTION:Experience the vibrant spirit of Downtown Pittsboro’s social district (Hillsboro St. and nearby areas) at the May 15 Finally Fridays Arts Walk from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Explore unique shops\, galleries\, and local businesses\, enjoy live art and music\, and savor delicious food—all while connecting with artists and neighbors in a welcoming\, creative\, and inclusive community. The event is free to the public and participating artist/vendors. \nPittsboro’s Historic Buildings: \nHistoric buildings in Pittsboro tell tales of resilience and creativity\, while local artisans have played a pivotal role in Chatham County’s development.\nThe Blair Hotel\, now called the Blair Building (north corner of Hillsboro and West):\nIn 1917 George Walker Blair\, a local businessman\, horse trader and livestock dealer\, saw the need for up-dated accommodations for visitors to Pittsboro\, and built the Blair Hotel on the court house circle where the old Central Hotel\, which burned several years earlier\, had stood. The Blair hotel was built in the “California Mission Style” with a low\, overhanging tile roof and open balconies. The new hotel offered modern facilities for its time: a steam bath\, electric lights\, hot and cold running water\, and indoor baths and toilets. \nThe hotel facilities were located on the second floor; the first floor consisted of commercial store-fronts. \nAn early commercial tenant was Hall’s Department Store\, established in 1922 and which operated continuously into the 1960’s.
