DESCRIPTION:Sing Fearlessly and Love Your Voice: \nDo you need something to brighten your days? Well\, here you go – Sing Fearlessly with others who also need some brightness in their lives. Many of you love to sing but have had little chance to do so. Here’s an opportunity to get Vocal Coaching\, improve your skills\, learn to love your voice\, and try new techniques in this fun\, active\, no-judgment\, safe environment. \nWe’ll meet each Tuesday for 6 weeks – 6PM to 8PM March 11 through April 15\, 2025 in downtown Pittsboro. \nAlthough we’ll do some group songs\, this is not a “sing along” class. Each class builds on the previous one so you’re never out of step. You’ll learn breath control\, phrasing\, vocal exercises\, increasing your range\, how to sing the “truth\,” how to learn new songs\, etc. We’ll explore individual as well as group techniques and harmonies. You’ll work on strengthening and relaxing your voice for optimal impact\, and you’ll take home skills to get you on your way. \nIt has been said\, by scientists\, that singers have greater circuit connections between right and left brain. Also\, it has been said\, by doctors\, that singing alters our molecules resulting in an analgesic body feeling. And it has been said\, by— me\, that singing is just plain fun!!! \nWe have done this program many times. Shakori Hills is a great friend to our community and as such sponsors this program. DESCRIPTION:Zumba Fitness is a dance inspired\, instructor led fitness class that feels like a party on the dance floor. Move and groove to international and latin rhythms from around the world while learning new dance steps in the process. Start off with feet\, add arms\, then start follow the pattern shown through non-verbal direction at the front of the class. Tanja has been teaching Zumba fitness classes since 2012 in and around Chatham County. She also teaches Zumba Gold classes for those who need a little less intensity\, have balance issues or injuries\, and still want to party\, but in a safe environment. We are an inclusive community of friends who enjoy a diversity of art forms\, activities\, and fun socializing together. \nDANCE: and move your body’s way that is natural for you with both form and freedom. We explore a variety of guided dance form and choreography as well as freedance co-created by participants. Dance styles vary from pop\, hip hop\, jazz\, lyrical\, modern to whatever style inspires the group. Express yourself through dance and music!\nART: We do ‘easy’ basic art right now\, with plans to create more robust art as we gather art supplies and find a volunteer art leader.\nOTHER ACTIVITIES: We enjoy board games\, horticulture/gardening\, music\, bowling\, field trips\, theatre arts\, and Special Olympics spring games. \nCAREGIVERS are asked to stay. SUMMARY:Zumba Fitness Class
DESCRIPTION:Zumba Fitness is a dance inspired\, instructor led fitness class that feels like a party on the dance floor. Move and groove to international and latin rhythms from around the world while learning new dance steps in the process. Start off with feet\, add arms\, then start follow the pattern shown through non-verbal direction at the front of the class. Tanja has been teaching Zumba fitness classes since 2012 in and around Chatham County. She also teaches Zumba Gold classes for those who need a little less intensity\, have balance issues or injuries\, and still want to party\, but in a safe environment. SUMMARY:Slow Flow Yoga @ The Plant
DESCRIPTION:This slow-flow vinyasa class is focused on building strength and encouraging flexibility. Class begins with a short grounding and centering exercise during which students are guided into their breathwork practice\, followed by gentle movements to warm up the body. We’ll then move through modified sun salutations and standing postures\, after which\, inversions will be offered to support the circulatory system. The class will end with seated and reclined postures to cool the body down and prepare for savasana. Modifications are offered throughout practice\, and all levels are welcome! \nThis class will meet outside on the lawn in front of the stage\, or in Building 2 in the event of rain. If you have any questions\, head into Fair Game Beverage Company and someone there will show you where to go.
