Chatham Community Library 5th Birthday Celebration
September 1 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 5:00 pm, repeating indefinitely
This September marked 5 years since Chatham Community Library opened its doors. On Saturday, October 10th the library will be hosting a Birthday Celebration from 5–8pm in the courtyard area just outside the end of the building and the community is invited to attend.
Music will be performed by Tommy Edwards and the Bluegrass Experience as well as librarian Wes Collins. Tommy was twice named World Champion Bluegrass Guitarist and has recorded and performed live with an array of bluegrass greats. He has recorded multiple solo discs as well as many albums with the Bluegrass Experience. Tommy and friends formed The Bluegrass Experience in 1971 and by 1972 they had won the World’s Championship Bluegrass Band prize. Librarian Wes Collins will also be performing. Wes was one of six winners from over 800 entries at the 2015 Kerrville New Folk Songwriters Competition! He was also recently invited to play at the legendary Blue Bird Café in Nashville, Tennessee.
It’s an evening out for the whole family, starting with dinner. The Deli-icious Food Truck will be on hand with a variety of amazing dishes and sides, as well as Barney’s Hot Dogs, and Maple View Ice Cream. The Scrap-Exchange will be on hand from 5–7pm for crafting fun with the kids and the Sheriff’s Department will also be there with Ident-A-Kid cards for your children. There will be bouncy houses, face-painting, and free giveaways while supplies last, including amazing cupcakes. Bring your lawn chairs and come celebrate with us.
We at the Chatham Arts Council are delighted to provide the only online calendar exclusively dedicated to Chatham County arts events–performing, literary, and visual arts. Get out there and get inspired!
