Summer Pottery Kiln Opening

June 1 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Twice a year, master potter, Mark Hewitt, hosts an open studio event, called a ‘Kiln Opening’ to present the pots from his most recent firing. This is the 111th firing of the huge wood-burning kiln Mark built in 1983, and the 40th anniversary of the first firing of that same kiln back in 1984!

At the Kiln Opening visitors can tour the pottery, walk inside the massive kilns, and shop for that perfect mug, or ice cream bowl, or flower vase for yourself, or discover the perfect gift, maybe a pitcher, plate, platter or planter, in the large barn/showroom/gallery.

Several of Mark’s life-size ‘Big Pots’ – massive vases, jars and sentinels that find their way to museum and private collections across the globe will also be on display.

Families are always welcome – there are swings!

Can’t make it to the Kiln Opening?
You can also visit the pottery by appointment by emailing sales@hewittpottery.com or calling 919-656-8889.
