Holds Many Secrets, Hides Many Stories

The Robeson Creek Greenway Community Audio  & Public Art Project with Felix Obelix (aka Wendy Spitzer) pairs a site-specific, community audio piece with 2D artwork created for the Robeson Creek Greenway in Pittsboro. It explores what it feels like to experience nature woven into our everyday lives through creative placemaking.

What does being in nature do for you? How does it make you feel?

If you’ve been down the Robeson Creek Greenway, what has been your experience of the greenway? How does it make you feel?

Wendy invited Chatham County (NC) residents to anonymously record their responses to any or all of these questions. She is excerpting your voice responses and incorporating them into a site-specific, public audio art piece as part of the Chatham Arts Council’s creative placemaking program.

The creative placemaking project will culminate in a public viewing and listening event on May 9, 2026.

This project, commissioned by the Chatham Arts Council, with support from Chatham County and in collaboration with Pittsboro Parks and Recreation, is created specifically for the Robeson Creek Greenway in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Wendy is exploring the experience of being in nature, especially nature integrated into the urban environment.

The participatory audio piece will incorporate short, anonymous voice recordings she solicits from Chatham County residents, as well as field sounds from the greenway and original music. Wendy is also creating a 2D visual artwork, where she translates data about nature into abstract collage, that will be installed as public art at the greenway’s entrance.
