Thank you, artists of Chatham County.
For paintings finally complete after a long stretch of 2AM bedtimes. For lines memorized on your lunch break at your day job. For words written on laptops, in notebooks, on old but beloved typewriters. For hours of rehearsal just to finally discover that the ballad you wrote really wants to be a rock song.
We are grateful in advance for all the creating you will do right here in Chatham County in 2015.
For the hours you will spend on a roll, in the zone, full of flow as you make the thing that inspires us, makes us laugh, gets our ire up, or gives us a moment of feeling small and knowable in the universe. And for the hours you will spend broken down, totally blocked, pushing too hard on the winding road to making that very same thing.
We know that you have spent weeks, months, years, decades becoming the artist you are today. We know that our community is better for your presence.
We raise a glass to you and to the new art you will make in 2015.
When you’re ready to put that new creation out into the world, be sure to come right here and help us tell everyone about it.

Awww. Thanks! It’s nice to be appreciated:). I’ve been an artist since I was a little kid. I still remember my “naked woman sitting” picture I drew that wasn’t allowed in the middle school hallway because it was not appropriate for school age kids:). Well, since then, I’ve drawn, painted, sculptured, photographed, sewed, crafted, created, designed, and quilted everything and anything. I see color and detail where others do not. I notice things. I look. Then I bring those things into my art. I have had other careers during my life, but my heart rests in my studio in Silk Hope where I listen to music and dance in between creations….and drink coffee and water. Caffeine and hydration seem to help inspire:). Blessings to those other artists who create behind closed doors, for their own soul, and to touch others. Namaste, Tanja

What a lovely appreciation and recognition for all aspects of the creative process. So much of the process is hidden: thinking, conceptualizing, accepting some ideas; rejecting others, doing, undoing,….. doing again. Thank you for recognizing this.

We’re grateful for your comment, LaNelle. I particularly love what you say about “doing, undoing … doing again.” Warm wishes for all the process you’ll undertake this year!
