Phillip Shabazz Poetry Residency at Chatham Middle

From December 1st to 12th, students at Chatham Middle School will embark on a creative adventure with the unforgettable poet, Mr. Shabazz. With a workshop built on storytelling, expression, and community connection, he’ll invite students to dive into identity, voice, and the magic of their own narratives. Each student will write and share their work in a poetry-slam gallery performance on the final day—where students will perform their work, cheer each other on, and compete in a lively showcase of creativity and writing.
