$87K in Arts Grants: Good News We Can Use

Good news is something we can all use during a pandemic that brings bad news daily. If you are part of an arts organization and are finding it difficult to weather this pandemic, you need to know about a grant from North Carolina CARES for Arts that is designed to help us as arts orgs in Chatham – including your organization. It’s going to require a quick turnaround, and yet it is an excellent relief funding opportunity.

We know this will not come close to ameliorating the current and ongoing impact to the arts community–but it is one piece toward sustaining us all through this crisis.

Here’s the Deal

As part of North Carolina’s spending plan for federal CARES Act funding, $9.4 million was designated to provide direct aid to local arts councils and arts organizations in an effort to mitigate business disruptions caused by COVID-19. Chatham Arts Council is working with the North Carolina Arts Council to distribute and administer more than $87,000 of NC CARES for Arts dollars right here in Chatham County to help with the losses caused by COVID-19. That’s $87,000 for those of us doing this work!

Who is Eligible?

  • 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organizations
  • Businesses whose primary operations are in visual, performing, or literary arts
  • Unincorporated arts groups applying with a fiscal agent

What’s the Turn-around?

The deadline to submit your application to the Chatham Arts Council is Monday, November 9.
