Big Night In for the Arts

Big Night In for the Arts aired March 10 on WRAL-TV. You can still support here.

We are thrilled to partner again with our friends at WRAL, United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, Durham Arts Council, and the Orange County Arts Commission to bring you Big Night In for the Arts 2022. This year’s line-up is something special, with North Carolina artists Ben Folds, Nnenna Freelon, Jaki Shelton Green and Chatham’s own Jabu Graybeal and Mark Hewitt!

“Art brings people together. It’s what keeps our communities
united through trying times like these.” –Jabu Graybeal

For all the details, including new videos, streaming information and how you can support Big Night In, visit the main website. To learn more about why we’re so excited to be a part of this event, watch the two-minute video below. It was recorded as part of Big Night In 2021.

Meet Chatham’s Own Big Night In Headliners!

Jabu Graybeal

JABU GRAYBEAL
From Pittsboro, NC, award winning artist Jabu Graybeal first studied with JUBA award winner Gene Medler of the Chapel Hill Ballet School. Jabu is a Jacob’s Pillow and YoungArts Foundation alumni who has worked and performed with a diverse group of companies, such as Caleb Teicher & Company, Emmy Nominee Chloe Arnold’s Apartment 33 and American choreographer Justin Peck. Jabu Graybeal is a touring star member of Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox and 1/2 of East Coast based music duo “SUMMERZOVR”.

Mark Hewitt

MARK HEWITT
Mark Hewitt has been making distinctive functional pottery near Pittsboro since 1983. He splices what he learned in his native England onto the pottery traditions of North Carolina, bending those traditions into an elegant contemporary style. He uses local clays and glaze materials and fires his pots in a very large wood-burning kiln.

His work is in the Smithsonian, the High Museum in Atlanta, the Weisman Museum in Minneapolis among several others. To learn more visit Mark’s website or follow him on Facebook.

We are grateful to all of our Big Night In for the Arts Sponsors. Thank you for supporting the arts in your communities!
