Go See This: The Little Mermaid Sings and Swims in Pittsboro

As new members of our Chatham County community, Chatham Park is powering our Go See This series this year because art is an integral part of Chatham County’s identity. They join us in inviting you to Go See This . . .

Mark your calendar for the culmination of a three-week intensive Pittsboro Youth Theater Premier Production, The Little Mermaid Musical.  Enjoy some family fun as PYT brings to life the comical characters under the sea through acting, singing, and dancing.

Tammy Matthews, Artistic Director and Co-founder of Pittsboro Youth Theater with Abilene Dasher, PYT performer

Pittsboro Youth Theater has been making performances in Chatham County for 7 years now.  It continues to grow, with 58 young local cast members performing for more than 1,000 audience members during 17 performances in the 2018 fall season.

This newest one is for kids of all ages, including kids at heart. Bring your children out to see some of their favorites–Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, Eric, and even Ursula the notorious Sea Witch will be there.  The cast of 20 are some of Pittsboro’s finest youth performance artists, ranging in age from 10 to 15 years.  With Tammy Matthews as Artistic Director and Brenda Linton as Musical Director, you can bet on a crowd-pleaser.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Creative costumes and great bops to get your kiddos dancing in their seats
  • Family-friendly entertainment by talented local artists
  • Choreography created by the performers themselves
  • Concessions with lots of options to satisfy everyone’s taste buds, including special coffee drinks for those parents who need a little something to keep them going

Get your children to put down their who-zits and what-zits galore, and come on over to downtown Pittsboro to be part of Ariel’s world.
