Go See This: Summer Fest 2018

What does a historic downtown do in the summer to bring neighbors together to celebrate their town? The Pittsboro Business Association hosts Summer Fest!

At Summer Fest, Pittsboro’s main north/south artery, Hillsboro Street, is closed to traffic so that this year kids can slip ‘n slide on the giant waterslide and show off their decorative skills in the Stars and Stripes Bicycle/Tricycle/Wagon Parade. Folks can stroll among the craft boothes and food trucks and play games where cars normally whizz by.  The acrobats with Imagine Circus will bring their fun and whimsy which always add to the carnival atmosphere.

Of course there will be face painting, fairy hair, craft tables, a beer garden, a dunking booth, a pie throwing contest, watermelon seed spitting contest, chicken bingo, and more ways to have so much fun!!

With the picturesque historic Chatham County Courthouse in the backgounrd, stages will feature local musical talent. The Dowdy Brothers are slated to bring their soulful R&B. We dare you not to dance. Don’t miss The Unmentionables either. With lyrics that are full of double entendres, who knows…they might be singing about you!  Headlining the lineup is longtime regional favorite Kenny Mann & Liquid Pleasure and, yes, there will be dancing in the streets.

Many who want to keep their celebrations local and see a thrilling culmination of the day in the night sky, have been dissappointed by Chatham’s lack of a professional fireworks display. No worries! The Pittsboro Business Association  heard you and will present a  laser light show!

This event follows the First Sunday Artisan Fair happening from Noon-4pm and many craft boothes will remain for the fun.
