All the Games, All the Food, All the Fun! ClydeFEST Is Coming to a New Location
Chatham County’s favorite kids’ arts carnival is moving to the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center.
Pittsboro, NC – Art, games, performances, food, fun, and critters! There’s only one place to find all this in one place – the Chatham Arts Council’s (CAC) 21st Annual ClydeFEST, and this season, there’s a new twist! The county’s favorite kids’ arts carnival is moving to the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center. Save the date for Saturday April 22, 2023.
“The Bynum community generously welcomed us for so many beautiful ClydeFEST years, and that ballfield holds many a special ClydeFEST memory,” explains Cheryl Chamblee, CAC Artistic Director, “This year, we’re shifting venues to make ClydeFEST more accessible to more kids and families. We’re excited to have more parking for folks with disabilities, not to mention parents juggling kids and strollers! And we love that the Ag Center was created to be a resource to the full breadth of the Chatham community so that everyone can feel at home there. The heart and soul of ClydeFEST has always been about kids (and kids-at-heart!) making art with found materials in a joyful atmosphere, and we are thrilled that all of those things will be available to even more people this year.”
From the young to the young at heart, all are encouraged to let their inner artist out and get messy! Stop by Critterville and paint one of Clyde’s iconic critter cut-outs, and then become the canvas at the face-painting booth! Visit one of the many community partner booths to work on a folk-art craft with your little one. Hula hooping, balloon animals, gigantic bubbles, live music, dancing, local artists, and more are all a part of this old-school, handmade folk arts festival. And, as if that wasn’t enough, several local food trucks will be serving up their own works of culinary art.
Thanks to the support of the festival’s 2023 naming sponsor, The Jester Group at Baird, ClydeFEST admission is completely free. That includes a wooden critter cut-out that can be painted in Critterville, a kid craft at every booth, and all the fun that has made the festival famous for the last 21 years!
Food truck registration is happening now, with a March 31 deadline. Community booth registration will open February 21. ClydeFEST takes a whole passel of volunteers to pull off, and volunteer registration is also open now!
