Meet This Artist: Lisa Fedele, Fostering Creativity, Collaboration, and Innovation

Smiling woman in glasses and a black jacket. Standing with collection of folk art.

There’s a direct line for me between entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity. So I think it’s a really important thing to evangelize.Look at my father, who had a third grade education. My father was a diesel mechanic, but at his core he was an artist and a maker. I think about how many kids, very much like my father, don’t know that creativity is a path out of poverty, a path to the world. I want to help people realize that your choice isn’t between working in retail or working at a plant. Entrepreneurship is a choice. Creativity is a driver.

Go See This: NCAI Artshop opens with Folk Art Show

It’s the beginning of the new year. Another opportunity to go out and see more beauty. Thankfully, January’s cold in North Carolina isn’t too bad. Meet This Artist: JR Butler Makes an Impression

JR Butler laughing in his studio.

As a kid in rural New York, JR Butler wasn’t interested in becoming a fireman or a cowboy when he grew up. His dream was to become an artist. And this dream never faded. A few years ago, when he was at a crossroad in his life, he decided to take a leap and pursue… Read More →

Go See This: Pop on over to Pop! Siler City

Like Alice’s visit to Wonderland, Siler City residents of a hundred years ago would find quite a different place were they to show up downtown today. But for three spring months starting on March 21, one thing they wouldn’t be surprised to see is a multitude of rabbits. The Chatham Rabbit, to be exact. That’s right. Chicago… Read More →
